Molecular Machines – Chaperonin

Beloved brethren, this particular molecular machine is very exciting! Why? Because scientists still do not understand how it works. There are still so many discoveries to be made, so many design features to unravel in Gods creation. Today we’re going to review the Chaperonin, an essential machine involved in the translation of DNA. Although no one is yet sure how, the Chaperonin is involved in accurately folding protein chains as you’ll see in the following clip…

Wonderfully, God has placed in each DNA strand the information needed for complex machines like the Chaperonin. This molecular machine uses ATP, another fascinating creation from the Creator. Without proper folding of the protein, each strand will not fit into place where it can bind to other proteins or sugars. This is why the Chaperonin is essential for life. Each unique machine involved in keeping cells alive compounds the issue of evolution at an overwhelming rate. Recall, dear friends, that according to secularists we all came from the simplest life form. Yet, even the simplest cell is more complex than any machinery mankind has concocted.

We were, as God’s Word has spoken, fearfully and wonderfully made. This, dear ones, ties into much more than just Genesis. Each baby growing in the womb has cells just as complex, full of DNA, ATP, Helicase, Flagellum, and much more. It’s a life! Praise God, the evidence for life is within the cell, at the first day of conception. Isn’t it beautiful? One more reason to stand up for the precious little lives being murdered in the thousands on a daily basis. I pray these short posts are a blessing to you all, beloved brethren, and as always be good Berean’s and study to show yourselves approved.

Answers News – January 22, 2018

Hello beloved! Did you know that Answers in Genesis does a live show every Monday and Thursday at 2:00pm right from the ark? Me neither! I was so excited to find this wonderful resource. I don’t know about you, but I get pretty sick of there being nothing appropriate to watch. Even when the show itself is ok, the commercials are horrific.

Enter Christian shows like Roman and Jorge, The Comfort Zone, and Answers News. I won’t be able to watch live, so I’m going to be posting the links the day after. I didn’t get this posted yesterday, so I’m posting it today. Brother Ken Ham is often on the show, however for this episode he was gone. No need to fret, everyone’s favorite molecular geneticist Dr. Georgia Purdom is filling in. She’s on the show quite a bit, to my delight, as her work in genetics has been absolutely eye opening! I hope you will all be blessed by this show, and as always be good Berean’s and study to show yourselves approved.

Monday Molecular Machines – ATP

Beloved brethren, you all know how excited I get when discussing molecular mechanisms. Over the next few weeks I’m going to highlight a few of them on Mondays. These spectacular design features reveal the intelligence of our Creator in a whole new light. So, please, feast your eyes and ears on the cells energy machine, ATP…

Friends, our bodies have trillions of cells, each one with more intregal parts than an airplane. God created perfect DNA in the first man, Adam. From that perfect man God created Eve. After the fall that perfect DNA began to mutate, and follow the laws of thermodynamics. We tend to look at our sins in comparison to one another, I’m pretty bad but at least I’m not as bad as Danny Deadbeat. That’s not how God sees sin, beloved. One sin was all it took for Adam and Eve to be put out of the Garden. One sin is all we need to keep us out of Gods presence in Heaven.

Our sin is not against one another, but as David said, we have sinned against God, and God alone. On judgement day we’ll be held accountable for every sin we’ve ever committed, even our thought life. While God is a God of justice, He is also a God of lovingkindness. He entered His creation as the only one who could bare the wrath we store up. Jesus Christ became the bridge for the massive gulf between you in your sinfulness and God in His righteousness. He hung on the cross, bore our sins and judgement, and paid our sin debt, becoming the sacrificial lamb of God. Because of what He has done you and I can be saved from judgement day. Cry out to God, repent of your sins, put your faith in Christ alone, and by Gods grace alone you will be saved.

Next week we’re going to look at the Helicase, an amazing machine involved in DNA replication. As always, dear brethren, be good Berean’s and study to show yourselves approved.

Back to Fossils – Travels

#noahsflood #fossils #creationscience

Beloved, I waited (not so patiently) all weekend long to share these pictures with you! If you’ve followed my blog for a while you already know I have deep respect for science, and a genuine love for fossils. You also know we homeschool, and one of my favorite parts of homeschooling is field trips. Last week we went on a field trip to visit some fossil foot prints.

I actually have a rather extreme fear of heights. One of my goals when we began traveling was to face that fear, which I’ve attempted as often as possible. I can now stand on a chair without feeling like I’m going to faint. Baby steps right? Not this time. The drive up to see these foot prints is a one way up the mountain with absolutely no rails. We’ve traveled through mountains many times, but never like this. The idea is to get a better clue of what the gold rush was like.

Once at the spot where the dinosaur path is visible, you park a little up the road and enjoy a short hike back. Or you can hike up to the peak…which we did on trembling knees. After going up to the peak we went down to the fossils.

I don’t care for peaks, hikes, or railless roads up mountains, and the only nature I like to admire is from the comfort of my air conditioned room looking out a window. In other words I’m not an outdoorsy kind of person. Along with an intense fear of heights, is a sincere disgust for bugs. I would brave all that for fossils!

Besides being a fascinating look into the past, fossils are one of the best evidences for a world wide catastrophe. Take these fossil foot prints, for instance, it takes specific conditions to fossilize footprints. When you or I walk along a muddy road we might leave tracks, but they won’t fossilize unless they’re buried rapidly. The idea that these prints were made and thousands of years passed before they were covered is complete nonsense. Erosion would have destroyed them long before sediment could incase them.

One dinosaur track would hardly be evidence for a world wide flood, however these tracks are found all over the globe. As I took this tremendous opportunity to go through several lessons with Kayliegh, we also talked about the implications of Noah’s Flood. We often, in Sunday School, show pictures of a little bath toy boat with giraffes sticking their heads out to depict Noah and the Ark. This is essentially the same thing as beginning Genesis with ‘once upon a time’. Noah’s ark was massive, having enough space to fit well over a hundred thousand animals, although the estimate for the ‘kinds’ Noah would have had is around 16,000.

For a better explanation by a much more intelligent brother in Christ, I give you Founder and President of Reasons for Hope, Carl Kerby…

Beloved friends, the reason the world wants to ignore the flood is the clear evidence of God’s sovereignty that lies within it. Peter warned us that there would come a time when people would deny the flood, and we’ve seen that over the past hundred and fifty years. Dear ones, as in the days of Noah, when the door was shut all hope of escaping the wrath of God was lost to humanity, so will the day of judgement be. While we have the light, the hope of the world, the only path to salvation, Christ Jesus, let us share that hope with the lost. Salvation is of the Lord, we can not save anyone, but we can tell others to flee the wrath to come, and pray God opens their hearts and minds. What do we need to do then? Pray, study, and share the Good News! And as always, be good Berean’s and study to show yourselves approved.

Twisted Scripture- Just a Nice Guy

We hear this a lot, don’t we beloved? Jesus wasn’t the Son of God, He was just a prophet, or worse, just a ‘nice guy’. Very few people can ignore the massive historical evidence for Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. With all this evidence what is the sinful mind to do? The light has entered the world, but men loved the darkness.

Enter the ‘nice guy’ delusion, which allows the lost to accept Christ’s life without having to accept Christ’s truth. Delusion might sound like a strong word for this twist in scripture, but let’s look at this viewpoint logically. If Jesus of Nazareth was not who He claimed to be how could anyone say He was a ‘nice guy’ or even just a prophet? You’d really have to twist the entirety of the New Testament along with the many prophetic verses in the Old Testament to manage this falsehood.

If anyone else made the claims that Christ made we would think they were insane. When Jesus made the claim to be the Son of God there were prophecies fulfilled and signs preformed to vindicate the message. Then, as a stamp of approval, God raised Him from the grave for the justification of the saints.

There are many twists of scripture, and generally I think the subtle ones are more dangerous, however this massive reworking of Biblical truth is prevalent in today’s western culture. It’s difficult, to be sure, to see our savior belittled in such a fashion. Man is forever lifting themselves up to be like God, and bringing God down to be like them. The truth could not be further from this twist.

Was Jesus just a prophet? Just a ‘ nice guy’? No. He was God’s only begotten Son, both man and God, who left His heavenly glory to enter His creation, saving all who believe on Him. I often wonder why God would want to redeem such a people as us. However, before salvation came, before I saw my righteousness as filthy rags, before repentance, I felt like God saved because we deserved it. How foolish is the heart of man, it’s the most wicked of all his members!

Liberal theology has spread this ‘nice guy’ nonsense like a cancer from church to church. The secularists might enjoy joining in, but this twist of scripture was born in the ‘church’. Any denial of Gods Word makes the entirety of it errant. When you start with the belief that some of the Bible can not be believed it’s easy to eventually make your way to believing non of it. Which is what we see here, with the idea that Christ didn’t come as the sacrificial Lamb to redeem His chosen people from every tribe, tongue, and nation.

This is why I frequently refute evolution, beloved brethren. When you’re theology begins with Genesis being errant story telling, Adam and Eve being fictional characters, the rest of the Bible falls at the wayside. Why? If Adam never fell, mankind has no need for a savior. Christ Jesus was prophesied that day in the Garden as the seed of the woman. He was prophesied in hundreds of other ways all throughout the Old Testament. If the Jesus Christ you profess as your Lord and Savior is just a prophet or a ‘nice guy’ then you will die in your sins and rightfully be deemed guilty on judgement day. There is only one way to the Father, and that is through the Son.

Beloved brethren, we must be aware that within our midst are sheep and goats, wheat and tares, converts and false converts. We’ve all met them, some say they believe is Jesus but just not that He lived a perfect life. They believe in Jesus, just not that He was born of a virgin. They believe in Jesus, just not the Jesus of the Bible. Lovingly correct them when you are able, pray for them ceaselessly, because for those who believe they are already saved yet remain lost in their sin, salvation does not seem needful. I should know, I speak from experience, it took over a decade for me to see my need! That I saw was only by the grace of God! As always, dear friends, be good Berean’s and study to show yourselves approved.

Monday Intelligent Design – Science of Trees

Hello beloved, and Happy New Year. Ever since we went through the miracle of birth series and discussed the lungs I’ve wanted to talk to you about trees. Trees are often mentioned in the Bible, whether as a symbol for the land they grow in, or in the literal garden of Eden where two very special trees were planted. There’s really no end to the wonders of Gods intelligent design, and as we delve into the science of trees, recall, dear ones, that we are “thinking Gods thoughts after Him”.

Most of God’s creations He designed to breath in oxygen and breath out carbon dioxide. Trees, along with a few other plants and algae, do the very opposite. These amazing blessings from God don’t just take in carbon dioxide, but also ‘breath’ in poisons from the air, such as ozone and ammonia, which they then trap in their leaves. This means the oxygen they ‘breath’ out is beautifully, naturally, clean.

Scientists know little about trees ability to create oxygen, however what we can see is that trees take in far more water than they actually need, only using around 5% of what they absorb through osmosis. The other 95% of water evaporates through transpiration. Evolutionists believe that all things evolved from primordial soup, which means we came from the same goop that trees did. There’s a huge snag in that idea, as evolutionary scientists have absolutely no idea how trees could have evolved. They appear in the fossil record suddenly, with no difference from their modern counterparts, no signs of evolving.

Trees are so dynamically different that there are portions of cellular activity which science has been unable to even successfully model after three decades of effort. The actual tree fibers have a braiding mechanism in there cells which is so complex it can not be recreated. Those braids in the molecular level of the tree are why the trees are so sturdy. However, it wouldn’t be a Monday post without some sort of fascinating molecular clip so I found a fun one of the inner workings of leaves. Enjoy, beloved…

The science of trees is a fun subject, however the most important, life saving tree, was one that had already been cut down. A sinless man was nailed to it, having the full cup of wrath from God poured out on Him, Jesus Christ of Nazareth paid in full a debt you and I never could.

You see, dear friends, we’ve sinned against an infinite God. The wages of that sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. Recognize how serious it is to sin against the God of the universe, repent of your sins, cry out to God, and put your faith in Christ alone. By Gods grace alone we are saved. As always my beloved brethren, be good Berean’s and study to show yourselves approved.

Intelligent Design – The Miracle of Life Part X

Beloved brethren we are going to wrap this miracle up in a swaddling blanket and end this series. Pregnancy is actually a ten month affair, however only 5% of moms carry their blessings all the way to their due date. For me, in particular, Kayliegh was born several weeks early due to complications in my pregnancy. I just want to give some last minute thoughts on how miraculous child bearing is, and leave you with a little more awe and wonder at the sovereign God we serve.

In the last weeks of pregnancy the baby prepares for birth, sitting lower and sometimes head down. The bones in the babies head are not hardened like other bones in their body, they remain flexible for birth. At this point the antibodies from the mother are flowing heavily into the placenta, a process that once again involves miraculous acts done by tiny cells and protein machinery.

One of the most amazing transformations take place in the babies body after it takes its first breath. The umbilical cord no longer works once the placenta has detached during the birth, which leads the heart to make some massive changes. For the first time, the babies heart and bypass arteries will begin pumping the blood to the lungs to be oxygenated. Once again, this rapid difference finds its cue from detailed instructions wound up in the tiniest book ever written, the DNA.

From conception to birth the DNA instruction manual is read, duplicated, and obeyed by the complex molecular structures within the human cells. How complicated is the miracle of life? Irreducibly so. Dear friends I can think of no greater example to give for the trials of this life than child bearing. I’ve never been the same, since I gave birth. It’s said the be the closest thing to death that you can do, and survive. The fruit of that trial, however, is priceless. Would I do it again? A million times if it meant I could have Kayliegh. It’s so worth it. Many of the trials we face on earth will be difficult, and yet the fruit is always so sweet on the other end.

I pray this series has been a blessing to you, brethren, and has allowed you to glimpse the greatness of the God who created us. He upholds all things in His capable, mighty hands. He is worthy of all honor, and praise, and glory! To the nonbelievers who are reading this, know with certainty that the day will come when the God who upholds this earth will judge it. We have all broken Gods Law, and as a just judge He will hold us accountable. The Bible says none are good, no not one. Our righteousness is as filthy rags to this holy, holy, holy God. It doesn’t matter how many days you go without murdering someone, the day you do it you will be a murder. You can’t go before an earthly judge and say ‘yeah I killed someone, but only once and all the other days I was a good person.’ It doesn’t work like that, you broke the law. If we, being sinners, know what justice ought to be, how much more so a righteous and just God?

Friend, I say this because I love you and I do not want you to be lost, you’ve sinned against an infinite God and on judgement day He will have no choice but to condemn you as guilty. God, in His mercy, sent His only begotten Son to have the cup of wrath, the very wrath that we stored up with our sinful desires, poured out on Himself. Christ took our punishment, He died in our place, so that we might be forgiven. He that knew no sin became sin so that wretched sinners could take on His righteousness. Repent of your sins, cry out to God for forgiveness, flee from the wrath to come.

To my beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, be good Berean’s and study to show yourselves approved.
