Hello again, beloved, I hope this post has found you all doing well. Today I’d like to conclude this series by summing up what we’ve been dealing with over the past few weeks. I’m going to continue to Friday series, as there are still more heretics from the early church to cover. I’ll be linking back to these posts when nessecary so if you’ve missed any in the series I’ll list them below. If there’s a subject you feel like I didn’t address fully, let me know in the comment section and I’ll open this series back up.
The reason I wanted to cover the essentials of the faith was, as you’ll remember, in response to the massive Mormon temple next door to our new home. There are many different cults in this area that need to hear the Gospel, that God the Son condecended to become man, He entered His creation. He lived a perfect life, and died in the place of all who put their faith in Him. When you repent, and put your faith in Christ, His righteousness replaces your filthy rags. He bore our sin and death, taking the wrath of God in our place. Because we owed a debt we couldn’t pay, He paid a debt He didn’t owe. That is the Gospel, it’s all of grace, and zero works. The tiniest bit of poison added to a glass of water changes it from nuriting to your health, to deadly. That’s what works do to the Gospel. If you have to earn it in any way, shape, or form, you’re no longer believing in the Biblica Jesus or the Biblical Gospel. That’s because, as we showed throughout this series, the Biblical Jesus paid it ALL in full, and the Biblical Gospel states that there are no works lest any man should boast. Indeed if we boast in anything, let it be in Christ alone.
Throughout this series it was assumed that Gods Word is the final, inerrant, authority. I can not stress that enough. Every cult, whether current or historical, has had to deny that truth in order to add to, or take away, from Scripture. Where we stand as believers will make a tremendous impact on the lost, which is why we must always stand on a higher authority than one mere, falliable, man…or woman in the case of Mary Baker Eddy. We don’t accept pope or prophet, we have a High Priest that has spoken once for all. When these men go against the Bible, and they always do, that is when Godly men and women must take a stand on the Word of God, the highest authority in the land. This means we need to know what it is this book says. To detect the conterfiet dollar, banks don’t need to know everything about every conterfiet. They just need to know everything they possibly can about the real dollar. So, that is why we went through this very important series on the essentials. I pray that this series was a blessing to you, my beloved brethren. As always, be good Berean’s and study to show yourselves approved.
