Noah’s Flood Series – Part V

Let’s continue our Monday series through the flood of Noah, beloved brethren. Part IV was about the rock layers, this time we’re going to discuss my favorite creation science subject; fossils! We’ve talked a lot on previous Monday posts about fossils, creatures that shouldn’t be fossilized, DNA and proteins found in fossils, fossils frozen in the middle of given birth or having lunch, but today I want to look at this from a different angle.

This whole series has been about the inerrancy of Gods Word. We’ve looked at all the areas with which Genesis is attacked accept the fossils, which we’ll tackle today. How would considering fossils to be millions of years old affect the sufficiency of Scripture? What we see in these fossils, the mass majority of which are marine life, death and disease. Scientists have found tumors and varies other sicknesses in these bones. In the beginning, dear friends, the Lord saw everything He created and said it was very good. Death and sickness did not begin until after the fall.

Here’s where the disconnect comes in, beloved. If you try to fit the Bible into secular scientists philosophical beliefs on origins, you have to deny Genesis. Either God created man with the land animals during creation week, or Jesus Christ was not the Messiah. Whew, that’s a leap huh? Let me explain. Jesus quotes Genesis, He speaks specifically about Adam and Eves creation at the very beginning. If dinosaurs evolved first and millions of years of death and disease later man evolved then there was no literal Adam and Eve. If Jesus Christ was there when the Earth began, like the Bible claims He was, then He would have been knowingly lying. If He was lying about Genesis then He was not the perfect, blameless, sacrifice upon whose righteousness we rely. But wait, it gets worse dear ones.

If Adam and Eve never lived, they never fell, and mankind does not need to be saved. The Bible tells us plainly that through Adam death came to all, but through Christ the resurrection of the dead. For in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. It was in the Garden of Eden that the very first Gospel message was preached, the seed of the woman was promised! These two concepts flow seamlessly throughout the Word of God. If you take away one, denying the sufficiency of Scripture, then you negate the need for the other. Do you see, brothers and sisters, how serious the issue of fossils is? Our weapons of warfare are not carnal, we war nor against flesh and blood. Our warfare is in the tearing down of every falsehood that sets itself up against the Truth.

Please don’t misunderstand me, friends, I love all the evidence. It’s such a blessing to believers to hear about soft tissue found in the fossils, or the marine life on the tippy top of the highest mountains. I think we should learn, enjoy, and praise God for all those truths. However, we can not turn this subject into an argument over evidences. It’s far more serious than that, this is the very attack at the forefront of the inerrancy debate. God is the only authority on this Earth who was actually there at the beginning, the Holy Spirit divinely inspired the writing of Gods Word, it is inerrant. So, dear ones, be good Berean’s and study to show yourselves approved.

  1. Sister, this the central issue indeed. Without the Fall (whose effects are plain in the world around us) there
seems to be no need for the Atonement and God’s Word is despised. I respect what you are doing here – it is needed!

    1. Wow, thank you dear sister! You’re encouragement is such a blessing to me. I’m so grieved to see Gods Word despised, yet I know if not for the grace of God I would be the one despising it!

  2. Thanks, Sister! Your logic is inescapable. If Jesus was incorrect about the historical reality of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah, etc., then He was not God the Son and we can all just forget about it all and sleep in on Sunday mornings. Theological modernism is not tenable, which is why all mainline Protestant churches are on borrowed time.

    1. “Sleep in on Sunday mornings” – that was so funny I laughed out loud, brother! You’re spot on, these mainline churches have relied on emotionalism to avoid their congregants recognizing the flaws in their theology.

      1. Always happy to bring a laugh! 😄 Yes, the mainliners are purveyors of emotional comfort and the social gospel with Jesus just being a teacher/example of humanitarianism and selfless charity. But His claims would have actually made Him the world’s biggest liar if they are not true, not someone to be admired.

An undeniable truth. Thank you . I truly appreciate your post.
